What is the Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA)?
SAA is a pan-African, non-profit institution that coordinates the African response to HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria. It serves as a forum for the exchange of information and works in collaboration with WHO, UNAIDS, the International AIDS Society, and other national and international organisations. SAA is the organiser of ICASA.
When was SAA founded?
SAA was founded in 1989 and formally constituted in 1991. Its Permanent Secretariat is based in Accra, Ghana.

ICASA
What is ICASA?
ICASA — the International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa — is the largest gathering on HIV and health on the African continent, convening over 10,000 delegates each edition. SAA owns and organises ICASA.
How often is ICASA held, and where?
ICASA is held biennially, hosted in a different African city each edition. Recent editions include Accra (2025), Harare (2023), Durban (2021), Kigali (2019), Abidjan (2017) and Harare (2015). See the ICASA page for the full history.
How do I register for ICASA?
